The State of Wisconsin has declared October 2015 Manufacturing Month. Join Wisconsin in this celebration along with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR), Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP), Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) as we promote manufacturing and manufacturing careers and education.
Wisconsin's Technology and Engineering Educators are looking for solutions to the workforce paradox –unemployment rates higher than most current workers can remember, and manufacturers limited by their ability to find skilled workers – that Wisconsin faces. Technology and Engineering Education supports Manufacturing Month this October and is promoting education (PK-12) in manufacturing as a path to a viable career in Wisconsin.
Manufacturing Day is October 2, 2015. This National day of manufacturing celebration is a good day to plan classroom activities around manufacturing or tours of local manufacturers (http://www.mfgday.com/).
Potential tours for your students can be found on the WMC Plant Tour Guide - http://www.wmc.org/uncategorized/plant-tour-guide/.
